I admit it, I am not really an Avril Lavigne fan. I don’t dislike her, but I am not exactly in her demographic.
So you may wonder how it was that I ended up at the VIP meet and greet session in Kelowna. And the answer is simple. My girlfriend bought the tickets for way too much money.
But I must say, although I still think her Lyrics are rather simplistic and her bubblegum subject matter fairly uninteresting, I came away from this with a new found respect for her. She can definitely belt out the songs, and I was impressed to discover that she not only plays the guitar, but also the piano and the drums. So she is more than a bubblegum star, she’s a real musician. It wasn’t the best damn thing, but it wasn’t the worst.
The meet and greet was nothing special, just a quick hi and goodbye autograph session, but during the concert I did manage to sneak a few fairly decent photos with my compact digicam, which security allowed me to bring in no doubt convinced it was not a real camera and therefore not capable of taking anything decent. While I certainly would have had a much higher success rate and better results overall, I did get a few keepers. Maybe I have a career as a concert photographer yet.
UPDATED: I have uploaded video footage from the concert.

I’m not a real fan of her music either. She grew up not far from where I live. You got some great shots.
