Why Wal-Mart Is Evil And What You Can Do About It

    Tuesday, August 5th, 2008

Recently I wrote an article detailing why it was counterproductive to your own success to resent those who have achieved it already. I used Bill Gates as an example of someone who should be admired, not despised, and I explained why.
So when you read what I am about to write you may be inclined [...]

If You Resent Wealthy, Successful People You Will Never Be Wealthy And Successful

    Tuesday, July 29th, 2008

Bill Gates is such an asshole.
That’s not what I think, but a lot of people do. In fact the level of vitriol directed towards Bill Gates and Microsoft is really quite mind boggling considering that the man has given away tens of millions of dollars of his own money to charities funding AIDS prevention, agriculture [...]

The Balcony Is Closed: The End of A Movie Reviewing Era

    Saturday, July 26th, 2008

Today I read that neither Roger Ebert nor Richard Roeper will return to the show that began as Siskel and Ebert and The Movies. This is truly the end of an era. Roger Ebert has posted a blog entry about it.

Don’t Worry, Be Happy Guy: The Sturdy Brothers Stop By For a Visit

    Saturday, July 26th, 2008

Sometimes you look for inspiration, and sometimes inspiration finds you. This morning I was sitting at the front desk of the hostel where I have been working, sipping some over-sweetened almost cold coffee and feeling a little down in the dumps.

Canada Day Special: Why Canada Is A Successful Nation

    Tuesday, July 1st, 2008

Today is Canada day, and I am a proud Canadian. I recognize how lucky I am to have been born into such a prosperous and just nation. I am overwhelmed with pride when I think about the opportunities provided to be simply by virtue of the country I was born in.
    While Canada is an [...]

    Friday, May 16th, 2008

So the disturbing news today from StatsCan is that drug related crime by young people in this country has doubled since 1996. Nearly 1800 youth were accused of drug related offences in 2006. “Oh, that’s just the police picking on marijuana users”, you say? Um, no, cocaine and other drug offences also doubled.

A Microsoft Yahoo! Merger? Let It Happen Already!

    Saturday, April 26th, 2008

Often the prospect of two giant companies merging causes me heart to beat rapidly with a sort of quiet rage. Generally this is because I either know I will be directly harmed by the reduced competition (as in the case of the Rogers takeover of Fido, I actually felt pain as my beloved Fido ceased [...]

Why I think Windows Live Should Die

    Thursday, April 24th, 2008

I am writing this using Windows Live Writer, a program which I consider to be a bit of an anomaly. It’s an anomaly because unlike most of the other programs in the Windows Live “suite”, it’s self contained and behaves itself, and doesn’t try to replace a built in component of Windows Vista. (The other [...]

    Monday, January 28th, 2008

On November 23, 2006, Blair Donnelly, a former pastor brutally murdered his fifteen year old daughter by stabbing her multiple times. According to facts agreed on by the crown and the defence council, Donnelly had been reading the Bible that morning had had interpreted events of the day to be messages from God to [...]
