Beautiful photo! I was Googling, looking for a photo reference for a watercolor idea I had. This one is too high in the sky, but I wanted to tell you how beautiful your photos are! I love this one! And I love early evening and early morning sky when it’s painted with Easter egg colors.

Are you still maintaining this blog, taking photos?

It is not the easiest to grasp on a intellectual level, but a femmist? He’s an enlightened humanist.
May you discover the essence of who you truly are and be the light.

Comment on Some People Are Evil: Thoughts On M. Scott Peck’s People Of The Lie by Richard W. Memmer https://inthelimelight.net/some-people-are-evil-thoughts-on-m-scott-pecks-people-of-the-lie/#comment-8463 Thu, 28 Dec 2017 21:31:59 +0000 https://inthelimelight.net/2010/06/03/some-people-are-evil-thoughts-on-m-scott-pecks-people-of-the-lie/#comment-8463 Hello, Jonathan.

I was pleasantly surprised to come across your site today — as I’m a HUGE fan of People Of The Lie and The Road Less Traveled. The former provided incredible insights into the perplexing behavior I had witnessed — and that was nothing compared to what I’ve seen since.

A few years ago I wrote a documentary on the psychological gymnastics of human nature — and you can see in this short excerpt where People Of The Lie comes into play: https://youtu.be/p4hMfZfN8WA

Great minds throughout the ages provided a wealth of wisdom to prevent the folly of our ways. And yet here we are in perennial pursuit of ideologies—warfare waged with “opinions lightly adopted but firmly held . . . forged from a combination of ignorance, dishonesty, and fashion” (to quote Theodore Dalrymple). From Prologue to Epilogue, my 7-part video shines a light on what we have become: https://mounteverestoftheobvious.com/

Thanks for your time!

Richard W. Memmer

P.S. I have a companion site I wrote last summer called https://makeamericagreatforonce.blog/

We English Bay sunbathers would cross road for (my choice) steak sandwich & a Heineken….My daughter stayed there last year and loved it – will print out your pix and add to “My Memories Wall” – thx.

Thanks so much for your comment.

It’s been so long since I read this book, perhaps I am due for another re-read.

I think the question of whether evil is inherent or learned is secondary to whether is exists or not. And I think the answer to that is a most emphatic yes.

Take these two stories, both from the very same day:

http://www.cbc.ca/beta/news/canada/british-columbia/notorious-b-i-g-the-cat-survives-shooting-1.4415169
http://www.cbc.ca/beta/news/canada/british-columbia/cat-abuse-duncan-bc-1.4415678

Perhaps evil can be both learned and inherent. If one has learned to be evil, then I suppose there is hope. But, sadly, I think that even one has simply learned to behave in an evil way, perhaps in response to abuse, it’s still very hard for them to turn around.

Jonathan
