Miles Canyon – Whitehorse, Yukon

If there’s one thing you could say about the Yukon, it’s that it is pristine.

And I suppose that’s really not surprising at all considering that less than 36,000 people live in the entire territory!

Even more fascinating is that the overwhelming majority live in one city: Whitehorse. The rest of the region is just a few small villages, and then Dawson City, of course.

This is Miles Canyon, which is actually just outside of Whitehorse. It’s an extremely beautiful area with many walking, hiking and mountain bike trails.

Here’s a little tip for travelling in the Yukon (which you definitely should do): If you have a nice vehicle, I’d recommend leaving it in Whitehorse and renting a vehicle to make the trip north to Dawson City. While the majority of the highways are paved and far better than you’ve probably heard or imagined, there are almost certain to be gravel sections torn up for construction, and the locals drive FAST. The odds of broken a windshield and other damage are very high. Mobile windshield repair business set up in parking lots in Whitehorse to capitalize on this situation…
